Kopr-Kote Drill Collar Compound and Tool Joint Compound is an unleaded, premium quality compound containing copper flake, graphite, CZ-EX (Jet-Lube's patented extreme pressure additive), rust and corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants, and other natural extreme pressure and anti-wear additives. These are blended into Jet-Lube's aluminum stearate base grease. The highly refined, low pour point oil used in the production of our grease ensures brushability at low temperatures as well as the necessary oxidation and thermal stability at high temperatures. Aluminum based greases offer the additional advantage of superior adhesion to wet steel surfaces and resistance to water wash-off.
Consistent makeup is assured, preventing stretched pins or swelling of box members. The exceptional film strength offers the highest level of protection from galling and seizure. In addition to the high film strength, Kopr-Kote has been formulated to produce an increasing coefficient of friction under compressive force. As stress levels rise above 50% of yield, the friction factor increases, limiting downhole makeup. Kopr-Kote contains no lead, zinc, PTFE, or any other material which is adversely affected by high temperature. This allows Kopr-Kote's film strength to remain intact at high temperatures. These characteristics make Kopr-Kote a must in deep, hot or directional holes.
