Liquid Transient Software

Source: Fluid Flow Consultants
Fluid Flow Consultants offers a range of programs that perform surge (transient, waterhammer) analyses on liquid pipelines
Fluid Flow Consultants offers a range of programs that perform surge (transient, waterhammer) analyses on liquid pipelines and pipeline networks, from our PAULA series (for pipelines and well strings with no loops or branches), to our NATASHA series (pipeline networks with multiple sources (supplies), multiple sinks (deliveries) and multiple loops). Surge analysis is the calculation of the pipeline systems' response to a time-dependent perturbation or upset condition, such as valves closing, pumps ramping down, etc. The user inputs physical data such as pipe lengths, sizes and node connections, elevations, liquid properties and equipment characteristics (pump data, valve closure times, etc.). NATASHA / PAULA PLUS then calculates pressures and flows at all calculation points and time steps in the model. Calculated pressures (heads) are displayed graphically along with the elevation and Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) profiles as they are calculated. Calculated results are also written to tabular and graphics output files. The tabular report contains various summaries which indicate if, where and when the pressure exceeds the MAOP's or reaches minimum allowed pressures (causing cavitation). Calculated pressures, elevations and MAOP's versus distance graphs, or calculated pressures and flows versus time graphs may be displayed and printed. All of these programs have the following:
