The Micro Air Separation System (MASS) is designed to remove suspended solids and reduce BOD and COD
The Micro Air Separation System (MASS) is designed to remove suspended solids and reduce BOD and COD. By using a revolutionary "dissolved air flotation" technology, the MASS suspends the solids utilizing surface tension to attach micro size bubbles to the suspended particles. This method reduces the amount of polymers used in the system by up to 80%. MASS systems are often used to treat water or other liquids containing ultra-fine suspended solids such as silt and organic particles.

The MASS works by inducing free air into the suction chamber of a positive displacement pump with combined cyclone formation inside the unit. The high pressures and forces combine the air and the fluids to be separated within specially designed channels by centrifugal force. As the entire process is achieved with no moving parts beyond the standard feed pump, maintenance and operating costs are significantly reduced. The system can also be structured to have the effluent introduced above the dispersion area avoiding effluent flow through the hydrocyclone.

The MASS technology can significantly reduce the use of polymers while achieving superior results. Polymers (coagulants and flocculants) can be used to create surfaces that can easily attach to the air bubbles.
