Multi-Phase Metering Unit (MMU)
The basis behind Solid's MMU achieving highly accurate multi-phase flow measurement is in its overall design simplicity. Three key process features in the MMU's design are its utilization of:
- -Inlet flow separation
-Coriolis-based mass-flow measurement of produced liquids
-Integral micro-process control and data acquisition with real-time job surveillance and reporting
Designed and built in accordance to range of flow and service conditions, the MMU's inlet separation vessel is sized and equipped to maximize the removal of free gas from produced well fluids. Elimination of free gas at process flow conditions is the main pre-requisite for successful performance of the MMU's coriolis mass-flow meters in measuring produced liquids. Towards this purpose, a unique design feature included in the construction of the separator is its patented inlet vortex cluster to enhance free gas breakout and removal.
Additional design features of the inlet separator include a water boot to enable monitoring and sampling of free water production, a quiescent oil retention and sampling section, a standard shrinkage tester for determining stock tank oil volumes, and an internal water jet/clean-out manifold to assist with retained solids dispersal. 2. Coriolis Mass-Flow Metering
Coriolis mass-flow metering is a well-established means for attaining highly accurate flow measurement in both single and two-phase liquids service. The accompanying graphic illustrates the high measurement accuracy attainable over an entire range of flow rate turndown (0-100%). It also illustrates another favorable characteristic of coriolis meters in their corresponding low pressure drop over the same operating range.
