Fike announces the release of a new design for its HRD Lockout Assembly. This explosion protection product is a mechanical barrier used to prevent an accidental discharge of an explosion suppression container (HRD) into the process vessel during maintenance and cleaning of the vessel and/or protection system.

"The HRD lockout's new primary sensor and magnet, electronically disable Fike's explosion protection controller (EPC) when the gate is not in the full open position," explained Rich Huff, Fike Product Manager, Explosion Protection. "A great improvement to Fike's explosion suppression line, the new lockout assembly features a simplified design with easy to install electronics, 300 series stainless steel construction and optional secondary sensor for safe condition monitoring."

Available in 4" and 6" sizes, Fike's HRD Lockout Assembly is fully compatible with all existing Fike explosion suppression installations. The product can also be installed in hazardous area locations with use of an optional intrinsic safety barrier. The HRD Lockout is compliant with OSHA requirement 29 CFR 1910.147, The Control of Hazardous Energy (lockout-tagout); NFPA 69-2008, 11.3 Personnel Safety; and EN 14373, 8 Instructions for installation, commissioning and maintenance.
