In recent years, new regulations surrounding Control Room Management (CRM) have put a new focus on improved alarm management and the provision of adequate information to controllers of liquid and gas pipelines. Specifically, the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has begun to regulate and audit CRM programs to improve situational awareness of controllers resulting in increased safety of the population and environment where pipelines run.

As a leader in information management and energy sustainability, Schneider Electric has recognized common industry requirements that can layer onto our industry-trusted critical control system platform, OASyS DNA. Looking beyond just CRM, additional common functionality has been brought into O&G OASyS DNA helping to simplify operations and communications for operators.

These solutions have proven highly effective worldwide in documenting and transferring complete and accurate information to be able to safely command and control processes during both routine and abnormal pipeline operations. They also provide real-world information that is highly valuable for controller training and procedures evaluations that help improve overall process efficiency and operational performance.
