Pipe freezing is a simple, cost-effective method to perform pipe maintenance
Pipe freezing is a simple, cost-effective method to perform pipe maintenance or line modification without shutting down your plant process. Freeze Service, Inc., a division of TDW Services, Inc. can isolate the problem area with SOLID freeze plugs of the fluid within the line using liquid nitrogen. This allows the job to be done with no draindown or refill, and no loss of expensive process fluids and in many cases, no system downtime. Once the work is completed, the plugs are thawed and the line is back in operation. Standard freeze plugs range in size from 1/2" to 48" O.D.

Successful pipe freezing is accomplished by establishing solid freeze plugs and maintaining them during the duration of the project. Freeze Service's freeze plugs are constantly monitored and withstand up to 8,000 psig line pressure or 225,000 force.

Independent laboratory tests have documented no physical change in the structural matrix of the pipe due to the controlled freezing process.

Pipe freezing can be used in most industrial and commercial applications, including:

Valve Replacement
System Maintenance
Modifications
Pressure Testing
Fire System Integrity
