Pipeline Inspection Tool Pulling Services
Unpiggable lines often require cuts to be made on either side of the line section to facilitate an ILI inspection. Superior has responded to the needs of the industry by providing fit for purpose wireline pulling units for these applications.
Superior provides advanced engineering services to determine the feasibility of pulling a tool through a line segment. Additionally, Superior provides certified personnel to perform site surveys and determine the optimal locations to perform line cuts.
To pull an ILI tool, the line is first excavated and the operator installs ANSI 150/300 series flanges (pipeline dependent) on the exposed pipe segments. Qualified Superior personnel then arrive with fit for purpose wireline unit and pack-off assembly. A tow pig is pumped through the segment with the wireline and then attached to the ILI tool. Pulling of the ILI tool through the pipe segment is done at a constant velocity within the tool specifications. Electronic data of the tension and velocity are recorded throughout the process.
