Real Time Drilling Data Visualization Software: 3D Drill View KM
Landmark's AssetView™ and 3D Drill View KM™ (Knowledge Management) software provides a powerful means for engineers and geoscientists to visualize, analyze and interpret MWD/LWD and drilling operational data in real-time.
These 3D visualization tools run on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 and XP operating systems for drilling engineers, geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists and other asset team members involved with the drilling domain. Asset teams can make decisions faster when 3D visualization of real-time data and the pre-planned earth model are combined.
AssetView and 3D Drill View KM software represent the latest 3D rendering technology in Java from Landmark. The suite delivers integrated knowledge management and real-time decision-making by allowing users to display and manipulate (rotate, translate, zoom) geoscience earth model data objects together with drilling engineering and operations data.
This suite enables integration and collaboration between drilling rig personnel and asset teams in the office. Each site has the capability to visually manage data and improve decisions during the entire operation.
AssetView and 3D Drill View KM tools provide the unique capability for configurable use in the office, at the drilling rig, and in standalone off-network mode or client/server configuration in the office environment. Used in conjunction with the Landmark's OpenWire™ system, AssetView lets asset teams closely monitor critical MWD/LWD data as it is collected at the rig site.
Benefits
Improved decision making
3D visualization helps asset team members make better decisions.
Improved knowledge management
The ability to review potential incidents, prepare contingency plans and capture lessons learned in a common environment improves drilling operations knowledge management.
Unique collaboration between office and rig site
Used with OpenWire technology, the suite provides real-time updates in an integrated 3D environment for improved collaboration between engineers involved with drilling, geoscientists and petrophysicists.
Cross-discipline data access
Gain access to vast data stores, including OpenWorks®, SeisWorks®, gOcad, DIMS™ and the Engineer's Data Model™ technologies, for integrated earth model and drilling operations data.
Features
Database synergiesAligned with Landmark's Release2003 Synchronized Release (R2003) with regard to OpenWorks® and SeisWorks® project data access and workflow interaction of this data with many other product applications in R2003. Gocad® data and Landmark's DIMS™ database are other data stores accessible by the product. OpenWorks® for Windows, installed on user PCs, is a basic dependency for 3D Drill View KM.
Integration with Landmark applications and powerful new display capabilities:
- OpenWorks® data
- Fault grids
- Surface grids
- SeisWorks faults
- Picks
- Wells
- Well notes from Well Data Manager
- Well bore uncertainty-survey error display
- Log curves
- OpenWorks pointsets
- Lathe view for center log
- Picks honor dip/azimuth
- Well status symbols
SeisWorks 3D Data
- 3D seismic volumes
- 3D SeisWorks horizons
- Roaming cube dialog
- Graphical opacity editor with data distribution histogram
gOcad Data
- Tsurfaces
- Sgrids
- gOcad PointSets (.vs files)
New and improved graphical environment controls Built on the new DecisionSpace platform, stereo mode support (with shutter glasses), Clipping Planes. New tools: Fly through animation capability, QuickTime movie creation, JPEG file creation, 3D Viewer inventory manager, display units selector upon launch
Knowledge management with 3D Drill View KM
Display knowledge attachments and DIMS or OpenWells/EDM drilling operational information in the 3D earth model during well planning:
- Stuck pipe
- Well control incidents
- Lost circulation
- Reaming
- Hole problems
- Trouble time, etc.
Launch and review specific DIMS or OpenWells reports from knowledge attachments
Ability to link Web pages, documents and applications to knowledge attachments
Well section displays
Well section display provides a means for viewing, in three dimensions, the intersection of the actual well trajectory with OpenWorks surface and fault grids, and SeisWorks faults. This provides a geologic orientation for making directional drilling and geosteering decisions for the well trajectory.
Well annotations
Well annotations may be posted on the 3D display, which highlight key drilling activity milestones or remarks for the orientation of the entire asset team.
Accessible re-interpretations
Re-interpretations made within Landmark's Unix geoscience applications will be accessible because OpenWorks and SeisWorks act as the common data stores, between the new AssetView product and 3D Drill View KM product and traditional Landmark geoscience applications.
Real-time updates in 3D
AssetView dynamically displays in 3D the real-time updates of well trajectories and log curves that are populated into the OpenWorks database, from MWD/LWD and surface logging real-time drilling services. This enables direct real-time comparison of plan versus actual information, and allows improved decision-making regarding drilling operations. The data transfer is supported by Landmark's OpenWire.
Geoscience earth model and drilling
Geoscience earth model and drilling engineering/operations data displayed in DEPTH domain. Geoscience and engineering disciplines have a common reference for direct collaboration in both well planning and drilling operations.
Simultaneous 2D/3D views
Engineers and geoscientists can perform integrated well planning via simultaneous 3D and 2D plan and section views. Identify geoscience objects in the 3D view and directly pick drilling targets; edit the target parameters, and then specify a surface or platform location.
Well placement
- Access existing OpenWorks well planning projects
- Create new well planning project
- Import Wellbore Planner™ file
- 3D view
- Comprehensive well planning options using AssetPlanner, TracPlanner and PrecisionTarget products
- Draw target selection in 3D display
- Stratigraphic evaluation (Sgrids related)
- 2D view
