Scientific Drilling Confirms Launch Of HPHT Drop EMS Tool

Houston, TX – Scientific Drilling, Incorporated (SDI) recently completed the commercial run of a proprietary new high temperature/high pressure Electronic Drop Multishot Survey System. The new system was developed by the SDI Research & Development Team in Paso Robles, California at the request of a major offshore operator.

The survey was run from an approximate depth of 30,000 ft back to the casing shoe. Bottom hole temperatures were in excess of 450 degrees F and bottom hole pressure was in excess of 29,500 psi. The new system is rated to 600 degrees F and 33,000 psi.

"This is an exciting addition to our survey capabilities," said Len Duncan, VP of Marketing for Scientific Drilling in Houston. "We are pleased to be able to fill this technology gap for our clients where operations such as these would preclude the use of conventional survey technology."
