The 8th Vietnam Saigon Oil and Gas Expo 2009 is a premier international exhibition endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. It will be held in Ho Chi Minh's new Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) from October 29-31, 2009.

This 3-day event will bring together all major players in the region and gives local and foreign manufacturers and service providers the opportunity to introduce their products and capabilities. The expo is especially focusing on Information and Technical Services, Finance, and the Upstream and Downstream sectors.

The Vietnam Saigon Oil and Gas Expo is an excellent occasion for SGS Non-Destructive Testing Services to present to the Asian audience its Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Methods, Material Testing, Industrial Rope Access and Storage Tank Inspection Services. SGS will be exhibiting at Stand no. B2-1, Hall A1.

The scope of SGS Non-Destructive Testing Services covers both conventional and advanced NDT, and is provided by qualified inspectors in accordance with international standards. Among all these methods, this time SGS emphasizes on three advanced inspection technologies: the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), the Ultrasonic Phased Array and the Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD). Expo visitors will have the opportunity to watch SGS NDT experts' live equipment demonstration of these methods at the SGS stand.

Materials used in construction projects have to meet regulations and standards regarding their quality. As the number of infrastructure projects in Vietnam increased, SGS developed its local Construction Materials Laboratory, an accredited and independent testing lab that is in compliance with Vilas 237 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Expo visitors can learn more about the testing of cement and concrete for compressive/ flexural strength. Our experts can also explain how SGS can design cement mix according to a client's request or estimate compressive strength by hammer test.

SGS will also introduce Industrial Rope Access and provide visitors with valuable information about this safe and time-saving access method for the testing and inspection of hard to reach locations in the industrial sector such as offshore installations and industrial plants or buildings. Being a member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), SGS offers this solution with well-trained technicians and in compliance with international guidelines.

Last but not the least, SGS will showcase its Storage Tank Inspection Services for which a list of standard techniques are provided as well as solutions using a combination of multiple techniques. SGS has the experience, the accreditations and the equipment to carry out expert controls, inspections and measurements in accordance with EN 14015, API 650 or 653, EEMUA 159 and ISO 7504, to ensure the safe condition of storage tanks.
