Simmons Edeco Celebrates 57th Anniversary With New Base In Mexico

New Facility in Villahermosa Supports Recent Contract Awards

Simmons Edeco, a leading supplier of onshore drilling and workover services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that it has opened its second operations base in Mexico. As Simmons Edeco enters its 57th year, the new facility in Villahermosa, Tabasco is part of the company’s efforts to continue to expand its presence in Mexico’s burgeoning oil and gas market.

Located on 0.31 acres, the new 13,500 square foot base features extensive operations, training and research facilities. In addition, the site offers plenty of room to accommodate new staff and equipment to support its growing customer base. With 14 permanent staff currently based at its facility in Poza Rica de Hidalgo, Veracruz-Mexico, Simmons Edeco carries out onshore drilling and workover services for drilling contractors and operators throughout Mexico. In addition to carrying out all necessary administrative and operational services from the base, Simmons Edeco services its fleet of dedicated drilling rigs at the base.

Contract Awards Fuel Decision to Open New Base
“With recent contract awards from two major service companies to drill multiple wells in Samaria field, our new facility will play a critical role in making certain that these – and all – operations in the region are completed efficiently and safely,” said Niels Versfeld, Chief Executive Officer of Simmons Edeco.

The opening of the new Mexico base is part of the company’s ongoing expansion programme, set against the backdrop of rising demand for drilling and workover services. During the past year, the onshore drilling specialist has successfully completed a number of contracts on the Amatitlán and Tecolutla blocks in Veracruz state, among others. “We use equipment and technologies that significantly reduce rig time and risks associated with drilling in Mexico’s rugged and varied terrain,” said Versfeld. “As a result, our customers realize significant cost-savings and increased efficiencies,”

Currently, Simmons Edeco is carrying out drilling campaigns in Tabasco state.
