SKK Migas And SLB Strengthen Collaboration On Multi-Stage Fracturing Technology To Boost National Oil And Gas Production

The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) and PT Schlumberger Geophysics Nusantara (SLB Indonesia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a framework for strategic collaboration in supporting the acceleration of production increases, including the application of multi-stage fracturing (MSF) technology to increase reservoir productivity and strengthen efforts to increase national upstream oil and gas production.

The Memorandum of Understanding between SKK Migas and SLB Indonesia was signed by SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto and SLB Indonesia President Director Nurzhan Ongaltayev on Monday, February 9, 2026. The signing is expected to be a strategic step in encouraging the optimization of reservoir management , particularly in fields with complex characteristics, through the use of technology, knowledge exchange, and the implementation of global best practices that can be replicated across various Production Sharing Contract (PSC) work areas.

The collaboration between SKK Migas and SLB aims to strengthen the comprehensive integration of upstream oil and gas processes, from subsurface aspects and well design and construction to production. This initiative is expected to improve operational efficiency, accelerate technology implementation, and support national capacity building in upstream oil and gas technology management.

SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto stated that this collaboration is part of an ongoing effort to boost national oil and gas production through the use of appropriate technology. SKK Migas welcomes the collaboration with SLB as part of efforts to accelerate the adoption of technology capable of improving well productivity and the efficiency of upstream oil and gas operations. This collaboration is expected to provide added value for KKKS (Contract Contractors) and contribute to the sustainable achievement of national production targets, thereby strengthening national energy security.

SLB Indonesia President Director Nurzhan Ongaltayev stated that SLB Indonesia is committed to supporting the development of Indonesia's upstream oil and gas industry by applying proven global technology and experience in various countries. Through a strategic collaboration with SKK Migas, SLB is committed to combining global technology and local expertise to accelerate production increases, including the implementation of multi-stage fracturing and improving operational performance across various working areas in Indonesia.

This Memorandum of Understanding is an initial framework for cooperation that will be followed up through further technical discussions with relevant stakeholders, while still paying attention to data confidentiality provisions and applicable laws and regulations.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting national energy security by increasing production, operational efficiency, and strengthening technological capabilities in Indonesia's upstream oil and gas sector.(*)
