Solid-Suspension Solvent/Surfectant

Well Flow LLC is part of the company's Wellbore Cleanup System and provides a solvent/surfactant system designed to suspend solids so they can be transported out of the well. It utilizes the patented concept of employing a solvent, a high boiling point alcohol and a blend of surfactants which form a weak emulsion in water and brines. Drilling mud solids (clays and barite), debris, and scale are made oil wet and are attracted to the emulsion droplets and so transported with the flow of fluid in the well. This emulsion solids mechanism ensures that the contaminates are kept in suspension and transported out of the well.

The product is used as a 1-4% emulsion in a suitable water-based carrier such as sea water or brines for water based muds. Fresh water is not recommended. The solvent is used as a 2% suspension to clean surface tanks, lines and equipment prior to receiving filtered brines. It can be used to treat dense brines that are heavily contaminated with solids. The brine is treated with 2% of the product under high shear conditions and left in a tank to settle and separate the solids from the brine.

The product is safe to handle and is non-flammable and biodegradable. The solvent and entrained solids and oil returning from the well may be separated from the water-based carrier fluid by simply isolating in an unstirred tank where the oily wastes and solids separate to the surface, where they can be disposed of in an appropriate manner, leaving a clear water phase. This separation will significantly minimize the environmental impact.
