Solvent/Surfectant

Well Flow LLCan addition to the the company's Wellbore Cleanup System and provides a concept for cleaning tubulars in the wellbore. It will replace many of the products currently being used and will simplify well operations by utilizing only one product, says the company.

The product uses the patent-pending design of a blend of environmentally friendly solvents as the carrier for surfactants to aid in the removal of mud, pipe dope, oil, sand, barite and other solids from casing and production tubing. The solvent/surfactant blend will form a weak emulsion in water, creating many small droplets. The surface activity of the solvents allows them to penetrate and break the hydrogen bonds holding dirt from a water-based mud onto a steel surface. The solubility of the solvents aids in the removal of oil and grease from the tubulars. The surfactants adhere to the solids and aid in attracting them into the emulsified droplets, preventing their redepositing.

The solution is safe to handle and is non-combustible and biodegradable. It is especially effective when used in combination with the HEDGEHOG casing brush. It is used as an emulsion of 1 to 20 percent in a suitable water-based carrier. The higher concentration reduces surface volume required and decreases pumping time. The product and mud solids rise to the surface of the water-based carrier for ease of removal. This separation allows for minimal waste disposal. The solution is equally effective on oil based, synthetic based and water based drilling fluids.
