Alternative materials and new systems for deepwater mooring are critical to meeting the challenge of exploration and development in ever-increasing water depths
Alternative materials and new systems for deepwater mooring are critical to meeting the challenge of exploration and development in ever-increasing water depths. For this reason, in association with other industry pioneers, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has developed standards for the certification of synthetic rope for use in offshore mooring applications. A recent application being shown is the use of synthetic rope by Petrobras for its taut-leg mooring system at Campos Basin P-27 production unit in 1,700 feet of water offshore Brazil.
