The T100-B TURBOTWIN Engine Air Starter
TURBOTWIN Puts You In Charge of The Start Cycle
The new TDI TURBOTWIN series of engine starters are specially designed for starting today's automated, low-emission engines. The TURBOTWIN uses aerodynamic speed control eliminating the need for a mechanical automatic trip valve (ATV) to control starter motor speed.
The result is a starter that can assist a gas engine up to and through combustion…so longer cranking cycles are never a problem. In short, the TDI TURBOTWIN puts you, or the automated control panel, in complete control of the start cycle.
Its Powerful.
TDI's newest air starter produces up to 25 percent more horsepower than other turbine starters on the market. And because its maximum power is produced at higher pinion speeds, the TURBOTWIN can provide higher engine cranking RPM for faster starts.
It's Dependable...Even On The Worst Air Or Gas.
TURBOTWIN's vane-less turbine motor has no rubbing vanes to stick, swell or wear out, so using wet air/gas is never a problem. In addition, the TURBOTWIN is corrosion resistant and remains dependable, even when operated on "sour" natural gas. And the TURBOTWIN's open-air path design is tolerant of contaminated air, which can clog or damage other starters.
It Never Needs Oil.
The TURBOTWIN turbine motor is vane-less and therefore never requires lubrication of the drive air/gas. This feature eliminates fugitive starter emissions, oily exhaust mess, and reduces maintenance. And because the TURBOTWIN operates at much lower motor speeds… reliable, sealed, grease-packed lubrication is used on all bearings and gears. In addition, the TURBOTWIN requires no oil sumps, which must be routinely checked, and filled, so it provides true maintenance-free operation.
It's Still The Lightweight Champ.
The TURBOTWIN weighs 15 to 70 pounds less than other air starters in its class. Warehouse people can handle the TURBOTWIN with ease and it costs less to ship. More importantly, at only 43-53 pounds overall, it can be easily and safely installed by only one technician… resulting in lower installation and maintenance costs.
It Reduces Repair Costs.
The TURBOTWIN has only half the moving parts used in other turbine starters. And all parts are individually replaceable… with no special assemblies required to complete repairs. In fact, the TURBOTWIN is so simple and compact; it can provide you with substantially lower repair costs.
New Safety Features.
TDI's sophisticated aerodynamic speed control helps protect the TURBOTWIN from damage caused by starter motor over-speed. In addition, a new steel motor housing module and low-mass turbine rotors provide fail-safe operation.
High Performance On Ultra-Low Field Gas Pressures.
More than a decade ago, TDI introduced the Turbostart Model 52A and pioneered low pressure starting capabilities. Our newest TURBOTWIN starter models continue to provide dependable starts on ultra-low air/gas pressures...even as low as 20psig in some applications. As a result, the TURBOTWIN is an ideal choice for field gas compressor applications and compressor rental fleet operators.
Strength And Simple Low Inertia Engagement.
Lighter weight rotating parts used in the TURBOTWIN reduce inertial forces and provide "softer" starter engagement. And in the event of over pressure, the friction clutch used in the T100 model TURBOTWIN protects ring-gear teeth from static torque overloads. As a result, the TURBOTWIN is your best choice for starting integral engines converted from air-in-head starting to ring-gear starting. In addition, an inertia-engaged starter eliminates the need for complex pre-engagement control plumbing… so it is easier to install and maintain than pre-engaged type starters.
Proven Application Flexibility.
Because only one gear ratio is needed, the TURBOTWIN can simplify your spare requirement. TURBOTWIN conversion tables should be consulted for complete application details.
