Thermal Engineering International Accepted Into SHARP

Danvers, MA - Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. (TEi), located in Santa Fe Springs, CA, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., based in Danvers, MA, announced recently that its Joplin, MO manufacturing facility was accepted into SHARP by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), an OSHA Cooperative Program, recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system at their facility. To participate in this program, each company must request a consultation visit that involves a complete hazard identification survey. TEi requested that the Missouri Department of Labor (MDL) conduct the consultation visit, which included consultations with company employees; correcting all hazards identified by the MDL; implementing and maintaining an OSHA approved safety and health management system; lowering the company's DART (Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred) rate and TRC (Total Recordable Case) rate below the national average; and agreeing to notify the state Consultation Project Office prior to any changes in working conditions or introducing new hazards into the workplace.

Jon Koenig, President & CEO of TEi stated: "I am very proud of the employees of the Joplin, MO facility who set a lofty target and achieved this very important goal and on their behalf I am pleased to accept the award of this certificate. Acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is a major achievement and singles out our Joplin facility as a model among our business peers for worksite safety and health."

TEi is a full service designer and manufacturer of surface condensers, feedwater heaters, heat exchangers, moisture separator reheaters and fired heaters for the power-generating (fossil and nuclear), petroleum, refining, and solar sectors worldwide. TEi also provides consulting services, and maintains a fully staffed after market organization, for any OEM's power plant heat exchangers.
