Understanding Cooled Vs Uncooled Optical Gas Imaging
Source: FLIR Systems, Inc – Oil and Gas Solutions
By Craig O'Neill and Ron Lucier

Optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras have traditionally been designed with cooled IR detectors that offer several advantages over uncooled detectors, but often have higher costs. However, advancements in uncooled technologies have allowed OGI cameras manufacturers like FLIR to design and develop lower cost solutions to OGI industries. This article presents the advantages and disadvantages of cooled versus uncooled cameras and detectors in optical gas imaging applications. Download the full paper for more information.
