Weatherford provides a one-stop resource for energy pipeline companies to help them meet today's mandatory inspection demands. The accuracy and analysis capabilities of Weatherford's direct measurement ultrasonic technology can work for you.

Weatherford's ultrasonic wall measurement (UTWM) and ultrasonic crack detection (UTCD) tools generate ultrasound pulse waves to offer exceptional detection and direct measurement of internal and external anomalies — even in the earliest stages.

The UTWM tool measures and detects metal loss (corrosion) on outer and inner pipe surfaces, as well as channeling, blisters, bulges, inclusions and laminations. This tool provides the detailed information essential to correctly apply advanced assessment codes and determine the appropriate pipe-wall repair approach.

The UTCD tool for pipeline integrity management (PIM) detects cracks and crack-like anomalies, especially pinpointing stress corrosion cracking (SCC), an environmental type of corrosion. The ability to detect subcritical cracks in pipeline steel is extremely important since SCC failures tend to be catastrophic in nature.

These proven ultrasonic technologies enhance and refine pipeline inspection speed and accuracy. Used separately or in combination, the tools are effective in product lines, refined production, water or condensate product lines — onshore and offshore. Either tool can operate in gas lines when encapsulated in a liquid batch.
