The award-winning Muddy River VGS (Vertical Gravity Separator) is a compact, low cost unit that efficiently removes non-emulsified oil from water. It has been acclaimed by a major water authority as "the best technology of its kind" and has capacities of 2,000 litres of per hour (528 gph) and 3,000 litres per hour (792 gph).

Unlike traditional separators, which are difficult to clean, the advanced design of the VGS allows cleaning to take place in 30 seconds - without pump outs or high pressure washing. As the coalescing cones are attached to the freely moving cover of the VGS, one simply agitates the stirring arms to dislodge waste particles. Because of this cleaning speed and simplicity there is no worker resistance to this normally difficult job.

Because it stays clean it maintains its performance.

In addition to separating petroleum products from water, the VGS can effectively removes tramp oil from machine coolant, thus allowing for cost efficient coolant recycling. Reduction of coolant costs by up to 80%, more precise tooling, and extend machine life are achieved using the VGS. Manufacturers such as Toyota (wheel plant) and Performance Development (manufacturer of precision components for satellite imagery equipment) have had excellent results using the VGS for tramp oil removal.

The VGS system can also be applied to extracting fats, oils and grease from the wastewater generated by the restaurant and food industries. Installation of the VGS can reduce drainpipe blockages and minimize trade waste charges. This process also allows the oils and low density solids to be profitably reclaimed or recycled. Clients include McDonalds and McCains Foods.
