Yantai Raffles Shipyard to Build Heavy Derrick Pipelay Vessel for CNOOC
Yantai Raffles Shipyard, together with prime contractor Friede Goldman Halter, has secured a US$109 million contract from CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) to build a 157-meter, 3800-ton heavy derrick/pipelay vessel. The contract was signed in Beijing on 21 December.

Friede Goldman Halter & Yantai Raffles Shipyard Group outbid competitors from Singapore, South Korea, and Japan to secure this largest ever contract to be awarded by CNOOC.

The vessel will be built at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard in Yantai, Shandong Province, China. Delivery is anticipated to be on 31 March 2001.
