Under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, Kingdom of Bahrain, the SPE Workshop: Delivering Value Through Automation taking place 16-17 October 2019 at Gulf Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. The workshop aims to establish how the well construction industry is embracing automation, based on proven values of process safety, consistency to deliver results, and the financial impact. We will discuss what the enablers are, and what the challenges to a quicker adoption are. What is the envisioned level of automation for each stage of the well construction process, how big data and artificial intelligence will enable it, and where and how rig systems and downhole technologies are coming together to unlock greater value.Automation's past, present, and future will be included with practical case studies combined with aspirational examples of what the future can hold, and how we plan and prepare to get there.Mass adoption is coming, as operators, rig providers, and service companies see automation as one of the main avenues for efficiency. However, will they all invest significant capital and resources into it? And, how can high-cost offshore examples migrate to high volume low-cost land solutions?This workshop will provide an excellent platform for major operators in the region alongside international vendors to work on high-value solutions for the near and long-term future of drilling automation.
