HPHT wells were once a very low percentage of wells drilled globally, but this has now changed. Sustained oil prices and maturing fields are pushing major operators to exploit the more difficult and demanding HPHT reservoirs in order to increase or maintain production at current levels. The Asia Pacific region has seen rapid growth in HPHT activities, ranging from exploration and appraisal to full-fledged development campaigns. Important contributors to the recent successes in HPHT are prompt and frequent sharing of experiences among operators, service providers, and regulating bodies in technology workshops, conferences, and forums. Sharing of common experiences across the globe drives the ability to cope with new challenges, sparks innovation, and deepens the horizon of hydrocarbon discovery. This workshop focuses on the latest technology, design and best practices that contributed to drastic improvement in safety and efficiency in drilling, evaluation and completion of these HPHT wells. An emphasis on case studies and an interactive breakout session will ensure more benefit to participants.
